Position Overview:
Personal Growth Counseling Services LLC is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our multidisciplinary team. The PMHNP will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating pediatric, adolescent, and adult clients with mental health disorders, including those with co-occurring substance use disorders. This role involves providing both psychopharmacological and psychotherapeutic care to clients, developing individualized treatment plans, and working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive, holistic care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Assessment and Diagnosis:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of pediatric, adolescent, and adult clients presenting with a range of mental health conditions.
- Diagnose mental health disorders in accordance with the DSM-5 criteria and other relevant guidelines.
- Treatment Planning and Implementation:
- Develop and implement individualized care plans that include psychopharmacological and psychotherapeutic interventions.
- Provide psychoeducation to clients and their families regarding mental health conditions, treatment options, and prevention strategies.
- Adjust treatment plans as necessary based on client progress and response to treatment.
- Psychopharmacotherapy and Psychotherapy:
- Prescribe, administer, and manage psychotropic medications, ensuring compliance with the Ohio Revised Code and best practices.
- Provide evidence-based psychotherapy tailored to the needs of each client, addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance use disorders.
- Collaboration and Coordination:
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and primary care providers, to deliver integrated care.
- Provide psychiatric consultation to primary care providers and other healthcare professionals to support client care.
- Client and Family Education:
- Educate clients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, medication management, and preventive care.
- Offer guidance on managing side effects of medications and coping strategies for mental health challenges.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation of client interactions, assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in compliance with the Ohio Revised Code and organizational policies.
- Ensure all clinical activities adhere to ethical standards, HIPAA regulations, and Ohio Board of Nursing guidelines.
- Continuing Education and Professional Development:
- Participate in continuing education and advanced training opportunities to maintain up-to-date knowledge of psychiatric practices, psychopharmacology, and psychotherapy techniques.
- Engage in regular supervision and peer consultation to support clinical decision-making and professional growth.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Ohio.
- Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
- Active Ohio Medicaid number.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a PMHNP, preferably in a mental health or substance use disorder setting.
- Experience with pediatric, adolescent, and adult populations is highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Strong clinical skills in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Proficiency in psychopharmacology and evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
