Job Description: The Non-Clinical Quality Improvement (QI) Assistant will work closely with the Quality Improvement (QI) Registered Nurse (RN) to support the review of medical records and ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations, as well as insurance expectations. The QI Assistant will be responsible for reviewing the technical components of patient charts and assisting in the development of strategies to enhance operational processes and maintain regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the QI RN in reviewing patient charts to ensure they meet state, federal, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure documentation adheres to agency standards and meets the requirements of insurance providers.
  • Conduct regular chart audits to verify completeness, accuracy, and compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Identify potential discrepancies or areas of non-compliance and assist in the development of corrective action plans.
  • Support the QI RN in tracking performance metrics and reporting on trends related to compliance and quality.
  • Maintain and organize QI records, ensuring all documentation is easily accessible and up to date.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes and ensure documentation standards are consistently followed.
  • Assist in preparing for audits, surveys, and other regulatory reviews.
  • Stay informed of changes in regulations and insurance requirements, and assist in ensuring the agency adapts accordingly.
  • Provide administrative support to the QI RN as needed.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in healthcare or home care settings is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to spot discrepancies in medical records.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and insurance expectations for home care services.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards is essential.
