Job Description
Specific Job Description:
Verifies patient by reading patient identification.
Obtains blood specimens by performing venipuncture and finger stick.
Maintains specimen integrity by using aseptic technique, following practice procedures; observing isolation procedures.
Maintains quality results by following practice procedures and testing schedule; identifying and reporting needed changes.
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Greeting the patients, patient check-in/out.
Keep exam rooms and Infusion room clean and follow OSHA/HIPPA compliance.
Takes and records various readings such as heart and respiratory rate, blood pressure, weight, body temperature, mental status, etc.
Accounts for medical supply stock.
Iv Placement on Iron Infusion, Hydrations, Chemo and or other treatments
Administer Injections per physicians’ orders when needed
- Assists physician as needed.
Ensures that all medical notes are or records are available to the physician including imaging studies, pathology reports, operative reports, and clinic notes from referring physicians.

Social history
Allergy list with reactions
Laboratory results
Mental status
Vital signs
- Patient Education - Provides educational information to patients, family, etc. pertaining to the administration of chemotherapy. Answer inquiries (ex: medical prescription refill) or/and provide advice as needed.
- Patient Follow-up - Contact patients in follow-up after their treatments to be sure not having adverse reactions. Answer routine questions from patients and family, obtain referrals helping physician, and helping take clinically oriented phone calls from patients.
- Supply Maintenance - Account for medical supply stocks to maintain for timely delivery of chemotherapy or providing other infusion services. Discuss with Practice Manager the need for replenishment of chemotherapy supplies.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Licensed by the AAMA and/or the ability to obtain your NC CMA Certification.
State of NC Registered Phlebotomy Certification
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills; confidence to work independently
Willingness to manage existing patients notes and learn how to complete notes on new patients
One year of experience required but not mandatory; good knowledge of computers and EMR.

Compassion: Empathy is necessary when working closely with patients who might be in pain or under emotional duress.
Attention to Detail: Required for accuracy in maintaining patient records, data entry for accurate billing, coordinating patient care and supporting Office Manager and Physician.
Technical Skills: Working knowledge and / or ability to learn clinic computer software systems and phone system.
Flexibility: Work with office and medical staff in a variety of circumstances, including emergency medical situations, to ensure effective coordination of patient care and compliance with state and federal guidelines and clinic policies.
