Line Cook / Fry Cook Job Description
Job Summary :
The Line Cook / Fry Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food items according to established recipes and quality standards, with a primary focus on fried foods. This role requires speed, accuracy, and a strong understanding of food safety and sanitation. The Line Cook / Fry Cook works as part of a team to ensure efficient and timely service to customers.
Responsibilities :
- Food Preparation and Cooking :
Prepare and cook a variety of fried foods, including but not limited to french fries, onion rings, chicken tenders, seafood, and other menu items.
Follow standardized recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistent quality and presentation.Operate and maintain fryers, grills, and other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.Monitor cooking temperatures and times to ensure food is cooked to proper specifications.Prepare and plate food items according to established presentation standards.Prepare other food items on the line as needed.Kitchen Maintenance and Sanitation :Maintain a clean and organized work station, including fryers, grills, and surrounding areas.
Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling, storage, and rotation of food products.Wash and sanitize kitchen equipment and utensils.Dispose of trash and recyclables properly.Follow all health department regulations.Teamwork and Communication :Work effectively as part of a team to ensure efficient and timely service.
Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and management.Assist other kitchen staff as needed.Respond to and fulfill orders quickly and accurately.Inform management of any equipment malfunctions, or food quality issues.Inventory and Stocking :Monitor and replenish food and supply levels at the workstation.
Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries.Inform management when supplies are low.Safety :Follow all safety procedures.
Use all safety equipment provided.Qualifications :
Previous experience as a line cook or fry cook is preferred, but not always required.Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food safety principles.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to follow instructions and recipes.Good communication and teamwork skills.Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.Ability to work in a hot and humid environment.Food handler's permit (as required by local regulations).Physical Requirements :
