The HSE Supervisor is a crucial member of the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) team at Persons Services Corp. This role is responsible for comprehensively understanding all relevant health and safety guidelines and regulations for a job site, communicating them to every team member, ensuring they are properly followed, and reporting audit and inspection results to the Corporate Safety Director, Division Vice President and Project Manager for the site. This role demands mental acuity and accuracy, strong attention to detail, a consistent work ethic, and an uncompromising dedication to worker safety and security.
Responsibilities
- Unless performing another assigned task, attend 1 toolbox JSA meeting every morning.
- Perform 3 or more JSA field audits throughout the course of the day for completeness and effectiveness.
- Perform 1 documented inspection per week per project.
- Perform at least 4 BBS safety observation per week that is entered into the database.
- Audit at least 2 equipment inspection processes per site visit.
- Provide advice and guidance to PSC Project Management.
- Accountability of all members of the project HSE department including ensuring adherence to all company policies and procedures.
- Oversees any project HSE incentive programs and periodically reviews them to ensure that they are accomplishing desired results and make any necessary changes to the programs to maximize effect.
- Advise project superintendent and/or Project Manager and Corporate Safety Director promptly of the occurrence of any health, safety, or environment incident.
- Assist with the development and implementation of the Project Specific HSE Plan.
- Provide information to project personnel on applicable health, safety, and environment legislation and regulations.
- Ensure that all project HSE documentation is properly archived in the appropriate software platform.
- Develop and assist line management in conducting project specific HSE orientations.
- Assist supervisors with the on-site Job Safety Analysis Program (JSA).
- Assists the project teams in researching, evaluating, and selecting medical facilities to accommodate project requirements.
- Coordinate investigations of all health, safety, and environment incidents.
- Arrange, verify, and where appropriate, deliver required project HSE training.
- Ensure all training is up to date by maintaining the training database for assigned projects.
- Assist supervisory staff with preparation of agenda and material for project health, safety, and environment committee meetings and weekly HSE meetings.
- Oversee and execute the alcohol and drug screening program, including monthly random drug screening.
- Verify that site supervisors have adequately prepared their employees to act appropriately in emergency response situations.
- Arrange for health, safety, and environment education and training as required.

Qualifications
- 3 years relevant safety experience.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to quickly recognize and mitigate environmental and behavioral risks.
- Knowledge of the construction industry, preferably in an industrial setting.
