Job Purpose
The full-time substitute teacher is responsible for providing instruction, managing the classroom environment, and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
Duties and Responsibilities
Follow all policies, rules and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
- Remains in assigned classroom until all students have been dismissed for the day
- Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class and surrounding areas
- Reviews with principals or designees, all plans, duties and scheduled to be followed during the teaching day, teaches the outlined lesson, maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which he / she is assigned
- Completes evaluation at the end of the day, checks out with authorized personnel prior to leaving at the end of the day
- Provide an academically rigorous curriculum that aligns with both Perspectives' standards and the Illinois Teaching Standards
- Model and teach The Perspectives Way
- Teach and / or facilitate the A Disciplined Life curriculum
- Implement and monitor both the school uniform and discipline codes
- Cultivate and support parent and family involvement in school curriculum and school life
- Duties as assigned in support of a Disciplined Life

Physical Demands
Majority of work will be performed in a general office / school environment. Position requires availability for extended hours plus non-traditional hours required to perform job duties. Also requires participation and attendance at organization sponsored events and meetings.
