Job Summary
The Mental Health Technician plays a crucial role in supporting individuals with mental health challenges by providing direct care and assistance. This position involves working closely with patients to foster a therapeutic environment, ensuring their safety and well-being while promoting recovery and independence. The technician will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to implement treatment plans and provide compassionate support to patients in various settings.

Duties

  • Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans for patients.
  • Monitor patient behavior and report any significant changes to the healthcare team.
  • Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions, focusing on various issues including gender, child family dynamics, chronic pain, and developmental disabilities.
  • Provide support during diagnostic evaluations and assist in the application of medical terminology relevant to patient care.
  • Engage patients in therapeutic activities that promote mental wellness and recovery.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient interactions and progress in accordance with ICD-9 standards.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
  • Participate in training sessions related to applied behavior analysis and other relevant therapeutic techniques.

Skills

  • Proficient in gender issues counseling, child family counseling, chronic pain counseling, and outpatient services.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Strong ability to conduct individual and group counseling sessions effectively.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and diagnostic evaluation processes.
  • Knowledge of ICD-9 coding for mental health documentation.
  • Competence in applied behavior analysis techniques to support patient development.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients and team members.
  • Empathy, patience, and a strong commitment to promoting mental health awareness.

This role is essential for fostering a supportive environment that encourages healing and growth among individuals facing mental health challenges.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: $62.00 - $70.00 per hour

Expected hours: 4 – 40 per week
