Job Summary
The Mental Health Technician plays a crucial role in supporting individuals with mental health challenges by providing direct care and assistance. This position involves working closely with patients to foster a therapeutic environment, ensuring their safety and well-being while promoting recovery and independence. The technician will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to implement treatment plans and provide compassionate support to patients in various settings.
Duties
- Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Monitor patient behavior and report any significant changes to the healthcare team.
- Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions, focusing on various issues including gender, child family dynamics, chronic pain, and developmental disabilities.
- Provide support during diagnostic evaluations and assist in the application of medical terminology relevant to patient care.
- Engage patients in therapeutic activities that promote mental wellness and recovery.
- Maintain accurate records of patient interactions and progress in accordance with ICD-9 standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
- Participate in training sessions related to applied behavior analysis and other relevant therapeutic techniques.
Skills
- Proficient in gender issues counseling, child family counseling, chronic pain counseling, and outpatient services.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Strong ability to conduct individual and group counseling sessions effectively.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and diagnostic evaluation processes.
- Knowledge of ICD-9 coding for mental health documentation.
- Competence in applied behavior analysis techniques to support patient development.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients and team members.
