JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Accounting Clerk/Assistant Controller
Department: Bookkeeping
Reports to: Controller
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Qualifications:
Education: Associates degree in accounting, finance, or business with one or more years related experience and/or training; or at least 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic accounting software and subsidiary ledgers; have an intermediate level of knowledge of Excel Spreadsheet software and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word
Processing software.
Other Skills: Understand basic accounting principles as well as banking operations and regulations
Training Requirements:
This positions requires the successful completion of in-house training or other approved training program to understand the operating principals and policies of Peru Federal Savings
Bank as required in the Continuing Education Policy

Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Include the following, any and all other duties may be assigned.
Specific Job Functions:
Responsible for the Accounts Payable and Accrued/Prepaid items modules of the general ledger accounting system which includes:
- Processing invoices and check requests in a timely manner.
- Generating weekly (minimum) check runs and reports.
- Proper set up of prepaid items for term and proper expensing.
Assists Controller with accounting/general ledger functions.
- Daily postings of general ledger activity and distribution of generated reports to management.
- Researches and initiates journal vouchers for general ledger balancing.
- Daily journal vouchers for secondary market loan postings.
- Daily journal vouchers for clearing and balancing PFSB bank accounts.
- Daily balancing of general ledger accounts.
- Daily Accrued Balancing.
- Daily liquidity tracking.
- ACH reconciling to general ledger and correspondent bank reconciling to general ledger.
- Assists Controller with month end general ledger postings.
Performs customer service functions such as telephone transfers, telephone inquiries, and assists with online banking set up and inquiries.
Assists Controller with Record Retention.
Completes the daily Check Reconciliation for the following accounts:
- Outstanding Money Order account for main and branch offices.
- Outstanding Cashier’s Check account for main and branch offices.
- Outstanding Loan Check account for the loan department
- Outstanding Accounts Payable account.
- Outstanding Interest Checks account.
Assists the Data Processing Clerk with chargebacks when needed.
Performs all other functions as assigned by management.

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
