JOB SUMMARY
The Marketing and Communications Manager will develop innovative, integrated marketing campaign strategies aimed at increasing brand awareness, driving traffic, and generating donations. This role involves collaborating with the operations team and independently creating engaging content, including copywriting and visual design, managing the implementation of a strategic communications plan, and producing content for various media. The Marketing and Communications Manager will oversee social media accounts while engaging with followers, conduct market research, and monitor campaign metrics to optimize performance. Additionally, they will manage the organization's website, coordinate with the organization’s PR firm, and support peer-to-peer fundraising and other Development initiatives. This position requires a blend of creative and analytical skills, ensuring consistent brand messaging and effective marketing efforts across all platforms.

- Develop innovative, comprehensive, and integrated marketing campaign strategies to increase brand awareness, drive traffic, and generate donations
- Collaborate with operations team to identify and create high-quality, engaging content that inspires action including writing copy and creating corresponding visuals, videos, and graphic design
- Manage the development and implementation of a strategic communications plan, including compelling fundraising materials and ensure consistent brand messaging
- Produce visually engaging content for online media, print and digital collateral, newsletters, fundraising appeals, websites, annual reports, and other materials as needed
- Manage social media accounts and content calendar, including responding to comments and engaging with followers to foster a positive online environment
- Conduct market research to identify target audiences, industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to paid digital marketing, ad platforms, and analytics
- Monitor and analyze metrics for the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, making data-driven decisions to optimize performance, user experience, and improve engagement and reach
- Administer the organization's website, completing in-house content and design work while overseeing and contracting technical work to external contractor, including feature development and security best practices
- Coordinate with PR firm on initiatives, including press releases, media kits, and event planning
- Collaborate with other departments for content and external vendors for marketing and communication initiatives
- Provide marketing support for peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives
- Ensure consistent brand integrity
- Assist with other Development team initiatives, as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field
- At least 3 years of experience in marketing and social media management with progressive responsibilities in campaign development
- Degree or previous experience with animal education, animal care or related experience preferred
- Previous experience managing and measuring Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Search Engine Marketing (SEM), and Social Media Marketing (SMM), and email marketing campaigns
- Previous experience with WordPress and website management preferred
- Previous experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar programs preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of writing and editing high-quality content for marketing and fundraising materials that is tailored to different platforms and audiences
- Knowledge of creative content creation techniques and ability to generate innovative ideas for content and campaigns
- Proficiency in using social media management tools and analytics platforms as well as graphic design tools and products
- Strong understanding of digital marketing concepts, tools, trends, and best practices with the ability to adapt to changes quickly
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Familiarity with video production and editing
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret performance metrics
- Ability to communicate insights to drive informed decision-making and optimize marketing campaign performance
- Understanding of brand strategy and the ability to maintain brand consistency across all channels

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
- Physical demands include extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, reaching, handling, grasping, and coordination with occasional lifting and carrying requirements of up to 10 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Most work is performed in the business office areas of Pet Alliance which are open and well lit, adequately ventilated, but sometimes noisy and distracting environment.
- Work is also performed at the shelter and/or clinic areas of Pet Alliance for content development.
- The job requires moving between rooms and buildings including traveling to outside locations, which may result in increased exposure to extremes in temperature and atmospheric conditions.
- The job requires frequent and routinely intense public contact as well as the ability to multi-task under conditions that can be described as extremely fast-paced/high volume and are potentially stressful on a routine basis.
- Travel is required up to approximately 20% of the time.
