Pet Central Helps! is seeking an energetic Volunteer Services & Events Coordinator to recruit and manage our volunteers, while planning engaging fundraising events to help us reach our financial goals. They will be responsible for allocating volunteer responsibilities, retaining talent, and utilizing our Better Impact software to maximize results for the organization. The Better Impact software is new and just being implemented, so the ability to continue setting up and maintaining this system is required.
The Volunteer/Events Coordinator should be skilled in determining volunteer skills and interests, while working to motivate and inspire. They should possess excellent organizational skills and be comfortable communicating with people of diverse backgrounds and experiences. Pet Central Helps! primary goal is to ensure that the organization is always staffed with talented, reliable individuals who are successfully engaged, to best fulfill our mission. This is a new position within the organization, so there will be plenty of room to grow for a creative, forward-looking leader.
Basic Responsibilities:
· Successfully learn and utilize our Better Impact and ShelterLuv software systems
· Source and recruit volunteers through various techniques (database, e-mail, social media etc.)
· Appreciably grow our volunteer roster
· Collect information on volunteer availability and skills
· Arrange & assist with appropriate training
· Produce schedules for everyday activities
· Plan significant fundraising events & assign responsibilities
· Communicate frequently with volunteers/staff
· Disseminate information for upcoming actions and events
· Keep detailed records of volunteers’ information and assignments
· Reward and recognize volunteer achievements
· Assist with front office duties/reception
· Ensure that the purpose of the organization and its actions are clearly communicated to our volunteers and the public
· Work in tandem with the Office Manager/Foster Team Coordinator
Skills & Qualities Desired:
- A degree or coursework in business administration, human resources, communications, or another relevant field is appreciated. Proven experience in a similar position is a plus
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and solve problems successfully
- Proficiency in recruiting volunteers through various channels
- Working knowledge of databases and MS Office
- Outstanding communication and listening skills
- Excellent organizational and team coordination abilities

General Work Hours:
This is a full-time position, 38-40 hours per week. Schedule is Monday 12-5, Tuesday 9:00-6:00 (lunch 12-1), Thursday 9-8 (lunch 12-1), Friday 10-5, and Saturday 9-5. Occasional Sundays may be needed for special event management.
Pay & Benefits:
Pay starts at $16.00/hr. Benefits include discounts on vet care for personal pets, and a unique and positive work environment!
Organizational Structure:
As Volunteer Services & Events Coordinator, the VSEC reports directly to the Executive Director, Operations Manager, and Office Manager. The VSEC will work in tandem with the Foster Team, Adoptions Team, and other facility staff, to best serve our people and animals.
Job Type: Full-time, 38-40 hours
Salary: $16.00 per hour
