Pet Retail Sales Associate

Pet Food Plus, a local, family-owned business, is a premier pet supply retail store with a commitment to excellent customer service, quality pet products, and educating pet owners.

As a sales associate in our pet supply retail store, you will play a crucial role in providing outstanding customer service and driving sales in our pet-centric environment. Your primary responsibility will be to assist customers in finding the right products for their pets, ensuring a delightful shopping experience. You will also be responsible for receiving shipments and merchandising, maintaining a clean and organized store, handling transactions, and staying knowledgeable about our products and services.

• Afternoon/Evening shifts

Responsibilities:

Customer Assistance:

• Greeting everyone who walks in and thanking everyone who walks out of Pet Food Plus
• Actively seeking out customers in-store and assisting them in their purchases, including offering recommendations and finding solutions for pets based on the customer’s needs and concerns
• Carrying out bags of kibble, cat litter, birdseed, and other purchases to customers’ vehicles
• Answering phone calls

Store Maintenance:

• Receiving shipments and merchandise displays – ensure products are stocked, priced, rotated, and arranged neatly for an optimal shopping experience
• Conducting various housekeeping tasks around the store including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, dusting, facing products on shelves, etc.
• Completing any additional projects assigned

Cash Handling and Transactions:

• Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using the POS (point-of-sale) system
• Handle cash, credit cards, and other forms of payment securely
• Provide receipts and ensure proper documentation of transactions

Sales and Upselling:

• Actively engage in suggestive selling to boost sales and encourage additional purchases
• Promote loyalty programs, discounts, and special promotions to drive customer retention

Product Knowledge:

• Stay informed about the latest pet care trends, products, and industry developments
• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of various pet food brands, toys, grooming supplies, and other merchandise
• Educate customers on the features and benefits of different products

Compliance:

• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and guidelines

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs. throughout the day
• Stand for long periods of time
• Ability to bend, kneel, and stretch

Pay starts at $14.00/hr. However, compensation is based on experience, availability, and your rate of growth/learning through your training period and beyond. Put simply, we happily invest in employees who invest in us!
