BATHER
The Pet Patrol Dog Hotel is looking for enthusiastic, hardworking dog lovers to join our team. We are an upscale Dog Hotel that offers boarding, daycare, grooming and wide variety of dog food and treats. If you’ve got an upbeat, positive personality, professionalism, stamina and great dog handling skills, we may have a position available for you. You MUST be available to work weekends and holidays as these are our busiest times. Management positions may be available for the right candidate.
- Must be able to handle and control dogs of all sizes
- Must enjoy working with both people and pets
- Must have the stamina and mobility required to interact with energetic dogs as well as ensure our pet resort looks inviting and clean
- Must have a flexible work schedule where you can work during the week, weekends and holidays as scheduled by your manager
- Must be able to follow directions and comply with processes and procedures
- Must have a keen sense of observation animal behavior and knowledge when observing the pets to know if there is something wrong
- Cannot be allergic to dogs or sensitive/fearful of dogs or all sizes.
- Must be able to multi-task and handle multiple assignments in a short period of time.
- Must understand that cleaning up after dogs and cleansing the facility is a requirement of the job.

- This position requires constant moving around, being on your feet, and CLEANING having enough arm strength and hand grasp required to handle leashes and animal collars to maintain control of an animal.
General Summary of Job
Bather primary duties are to properly prepare, bathe and finish pets by using humane practices and minimizing pet stress. Additionally, the Bather is responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of the groom shop. Pet Care Pet Care Staff may be cross-trained in Bather procedures for the groom shop. The Bather works under the supervision of the Senior Groomer and/or Manager on Duty.
Primary Duties
- Perform bath functions as requested by client and described on the groom card
- Nail trim
- Tooth brushing
- Brush-out
- Bath
- Prepare dogs for bathing in accordance to procedures
- Brush out dog with proper tools
- Trim nails
- Clean ears
- Bathe dogs as described in procedures
- Dry dogs completely
- When time permits hand dry dogs completely
- Cage dryer is to be used for bath dogs, intermediate drying of groom dogs, and for dogs that are overstressed by the hand dryer
- All groom dogs must be completely dry and finished drying by hand
- Finish dogs as described in procedures
- All dogs should be finish brushed and combed.
- Bath dogs should have cologne and bandana applied unless client requests otherwise.
- Keep bathing stations stocked with supplies, tools cleaned and ready for use.
- Keep groom shop clean
- During the work day keep the room safe by wiping up water spills and pet accidents as soon as possible
- At the end of each workday all hair should be swept/mopped from floor and cleaned from tubs/shower
- Holding cages should be ready for next day’s arrivals
- Update pet status on white board and point of sale system. Advise receptionist when dogs that are to be “called when ready” are finished.
- Follow safety procedures for pets and staff at all times. Ask for assistance when a pet is stressed, very difficult to manage or showing any signs of injury
