About this Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-directed Founding AI Developer who is eager to push the boundaries of AI-driven product development. You’ll be working directly with large language models (LLMs), leveraging OpenAI APIs, and building cutting-edge solutions that help our customers better understand and care for their pets. This is a unique opportunity for someone who wants to shape a product from the ground up, actively contribute to a mission-driven company, and delight users with innovative AI-driven experiences.

What You’ll Do

• Build and Innovate: Architect, develop, and deploy features that harness the latest advances in AI—especially large language models—to power interactive pet experiences.

• Product Focus: Work closely with the founder, technical leaders, and other stakeholders to deliver features that have immediate, meaningful impact on pet owners.

• Technical Improvements: Continuously refine the platform’s AI capabilities, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement solutions that optimize responsiveness and scalability.

• LLM Integration: Use Google Gemini, Anthropic APIs, and other cutting-edge AI tools to build and optimize conversational and reasoning capabilities that mirror each pet’s unique personality and daily needs.

• Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teammates to translate complex pet care concepts into actionable, AI-driven tools that seamlessly integrate into our platform.

What the Day-to-Day Looks Like

• Contribute to the full software development lifecycle—from conceptualizing new features to shipping production code and monitoring its performance.

• Implement and refine AI-driven features that simulate realistic pet behaviors and interactions using the latest models and APIs.

• Rapidly prototype new ideas, test their viability, and iterate based on user feedback and product goals.

• Participate in code reviews, write documentation, and collaborate closely with teammates to continuously improve our engineering standards and user experience.

• Identify and address technical debt, ensuring our codebase remains clean, efficient, and easy to extend as the product evolves.

Qualifications

• 2 years of professional experience building and maintaining production applications.

• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, TypeScript, React, and Next.js.

• Experience integrating with OpenAI APIs or similar large language model services.

• A proven track record of building high-quality, scalable, and performant code.

• Familiarity with continuous integration, delivery pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.

• Previous experience in an early-stage startup environment is a plus.

• Bonus: Experience using workflow automation tools like Pipedream, Zapier, or n8n.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
