JOB SUMMARY
We're looking for an upbeat, people-focused team member who thrives on delivering great customer experiences! The primary focus of the Team Member is to provide excellent customer service to customers and pets that come into the Pets Supplies Plus store. The position is also responsible for caring for animals, general store cleaning, merchandising, and inventory maintenance. As a locally owned and operated store, we take pride in fostering a positive and supportive work environment!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet customers (and pets) that enter the store and determine what each customer needs.
- Deliver exceptional customer service that is consistent and beyond expectations.
- Feed, care and look after the health of animals.
- Operate the cash register to receive payments by cash, check, and credit cards.
- Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
- Complete general cleaning duties of the store.
- Clean livestock habitats, as necessary.
- Load and unload the freight inventory.
- Complete price labeling and display of store products.
- Perform inventory counts and records for store products.
- Handle customer complaints when they arise by exhibiting excellent customer service.
- Answer customers' questions and provide information on products.
- Answer customer questions to help them find their perfect pet.
- Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires.
- Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
- Comply with company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & RELATED EXPERIENCE
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
- Prior retail experience or animal care in a professional environment is preferred.
- Prior cash handling experience is preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES AND INTERACTIONS WITH OTHERS
The Team Member will not be directly responsible for supervising others. The role will interact daily with coworkers, customers, and pets.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, hear, and see using close- and/or distance-vision, and use their hands to touch, grasp, or type. The employee may occasionally be required to reach with their hands and arms, walk, and lift or move objects up to 50 pounds. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office and store equipment. Ability to operate all equipment – including a forklift – to run the store is important, as well as being able to climb ladders, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds. The position must be able to work flexible schedules, have reliable transportation, pass a drug, and background screening, and be at least 16 years of age or older.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Duties are regularly performed in the retail store environment. The work environment is usually a well-lighted environmentally controlled indoor environment with a moderate level of noise. The work pace can vary but may be fast when meeting deadlines or during peak business days. This position has varied scheduled hours and days depending on store needs. Evening and weekend work is required. The position must close one night per week and work one weekend shift per week at a minimum. The Pet Store Team Member must interact with various types of animals daily.
