What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Practice Manager position at Pet Time Animal Hospital?
POSITION SUMMARY
As part of the practice’s leadership team, and in collaboration with the Managing Veterinarian and area leadership, provides direction and support for a wide range of operational, client service and personnel related activities utilizing the practice’s Vision, Mission and Core Values as a guide.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership
- Contribute to the development of the practice’s Vision, Mission and Core Values and use them as guides to all decision making in day to day operations.
- Participate in the practice’s strategic planning process and actively work to operationalize strategic initiatives to move the practice forward.
- Schedule and lead regular team meetings that promote the practice’s Mission, Vision and Core Values.
- Develop and promote an ongoing and regular training program for all team members.
Personnel Administration:
- Develop, review and update the practice’s Employee Handbook and ensure its guidelines and policies are carried out as part of daily practice operations.
- Construct valid selection and job-related criteria for the practice’s staffing matrix.
- Craft job descriptions and post vacancies including job analysis, job functions, specifications and competencies.
- Conduct and/or supervise the recruitment process including:
- Reviewing resumes/applicant inquiries;
- Screening, interviewing and evaluating applicants;
- Crafting job related interview question;
- Verification of applicant references;
- Making offers of employment.
- Establish and maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files.
- Develop and conduct new employee orientation programs and other job-related training programs.
- Administer employee benefits program, including plan enrollment/termination, COBRA, vendor invoice reconciliation and liaising with benefits agents and providers.
- Prepare and process semi-monthly payroll data for all employees, including calculations of DVM production bonuses.
- Monitor employee attendance and rest/meal periods for compliance with company policy and applicable legislation.
- Document and monitor employee leave, including Paid Time Off, Sick Leave, unpaid time off, medical and/or disability, maternity and/or FMLA leave.
