Retail Sales Associate

At Pet Wants, we know that fresh is better. Our dog and cat food is slow cooked in small batches, and delivered to your pet's bowl within weeks of cooking. We also offer a variety of natural and homemade treats, chews, supplements and grooming products. Pet Wants Hilton Head is looking for an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about animals and making a positive impact in their lives through nutrition.

We are seeking part-time and full time team members to begin in the Spring! Part time with us ranges from 16-24 hours per week - more hours available depending on growth, time of year, etc. Full time ranges from 30-40 hours per week. Weekend availability is required for both positions. Weekday, evening and holiday availability (excluding Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving) are flexible. You must be able to lift 50#. You must be 18 years or older to apply. Pet, retail and/or customer service experience is preferred, but we will provide training where we see fit.

Qualifications:

• Retail experience a plus, but not required
• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Able to lift 50# at once
• Must be 18 years or older to apply

• Stand for long periods of time

• Driver’s license and have reliable transportation
• Strong communication skills
• Confident in driving shop vehicles (when applicable) to and from events and/or deliveries
• Cash handling experience preferred

Duties/Responsibilities

• Working events at farmers markets, festivals and community events which involves driving booth materials to event locations, setting up, tearing down, managing the booth and engaging with our customers.
• Working in the kitchen to make our house-made products including bone broths, stews, treats, apothecaries, etc. and cleaning up (doing the dishes, wiping down countertops, keeping ingredients stocked and organized, etc.)
• Communicate with and educate customers while at the store and/or farmer’s markets in a friendly and professional manner
• Participate in necessary trainings/webinars to truly understand our products and why we do what we do
• Packing online and in-store orders
• Making deliveries in the Pet Wants vehicle or in your own transportation (mileage paid)
• Bagging product and stocking the sales floor
• Accepting deliveries and taking inventory
• Helping customers find solutions through nutrition
• Operating POS (point of sales) device and handling financial transactions
• Bring creative ideas!!!
• Keep the store clean, organized, and stocked

Experience:

• Previous experience in retail sales is preferred but not required
• Strong phone etiquette skills
• Proficient in operating a cash register and handling financial transactions
• Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively
• Basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately

Expected hours:

Starting at $13.00/hr - Part time & Full Time Positions Available. Pay advancements are based on work ethic and performance.

*Additional hours outside of normal store hours may be required for community events and/or making deliveries where applicable.
