Job Description
The Physician Assistant will work at the top of their licensure and as part of a team of healthcare professionals to provide quality primary medical care in a compassionate and caring environment.
Responsibilities
- Taking appropriate history and physical examination of patients, and evaluating and treating patients within the usual and customary scope of licensure, practice policies and guidelines, and national certification
- Ordering pertinent diagnostics and implementing appropriate therapy according to scope of practice guidelines
- Communicating effectively with patients while involved with their healthcare, including providing appropriate patient education while answering questions and in history-taking
- Becoming an integral part of the clinical staff through participation in Medical Staff meetings, PA/NP meetings, and other committees of PHC
- Maintaining credentials by keeping all required licenses current, including but not limited to California Physician Assistant License, National Physicians Assistant Certification, DEA registration, BLS Certifications, CME hours and any other required certifications or licenses
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant training program
- 3 years of experience providing primary care in a family practice setting
- Experience working in a NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) recognized organization, understanding of NCQA Level 3 (highest) PCMH recognition requirements highly preferred
- Active license in good standing with the Physician Assistant Board of the Medical Board of the State of California
- Passage of the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants' Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination
- Active Physician Assistant Certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Inc.
- Current BLS Certification
- Active Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Registration in good standing
