Position Purpose :

The Treasury Analyst assists the Sr. Treasury Manager in managing corporate cash activity.

Essential Job Functions : The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Functions as a knowledgeable partner at PETCO for all topics related to the proper accounting treasury transactions :

Obtaining and maintaining a thorough understanding of relevant accountant literature - both US GAAP and IFRS

Understanding assigned processes that are associated with accurately recording treasury information in PETCO accounting systems

Assists the Treasury Manager in updating and maintaining relevant treasury procedure and control documents

Functions as a knowledgeable partner at PETCO for assigned topics related to the use of the banking websites to ensure that treasury transactions are executed timely, accurately, and are appropriately authorized, while ensuring that physical access to banking systems are appropriately restricted.

Attending banking training classes and online courses

Interacting with current users of banking software at PETCO

On the job use of the banking software

Functions as contributing member of the treasury group by :

Providing input on the direction of the treasury team

Organizing efficient work processes

Proactively identifying, addressing and communicating issues

Effectively presenting critical information on treasury activity to accounting management.

Identifying immediate risks and opportunities.

Demonstrating ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines

Taking ownership of issues until rightful owner is identified and informed

Operating at moderate level of complexity to functional areas of responsibility and Providing input when requested on complex broader business strategies / initiatives

Attending all required PETCO meetings

Ensures that assigned treasury cash management activity occurs in a timely and accurate manner by :

Ensuring electronic fund transfers are executed in a timely and accurate manner

Submitting daily wire transfer and ACH sweep journal entries and backup support for review

Ensuring controls over cash transactions are maintained to protect company assets

Supporting a timely and accurate financial close

Recommending store banking partners and / or armored couriers

Opening and closing store banks, as needed, and on a timely basis

Ordering banking supplies and requesting petty cash funding for new stores

Monitoring bank and other fees to ensure costs are minimized; making recommendations to leadership where change is needed

Ensuring capital structure payments are made on a timely accurate basis

Serving as a point of contact for banking questions and assist with store depository issues by acting as the liaison between the bank and / or armored courier

Preparing accurate financial projections for assigned accounts

Maintaining the daily cash flow forecast, including regular interaction with applicable departments

Utilize the cash flow forecast to recommend daily borrowing and / or investment decisions

Supervisory Responsibility : None

Work Environment :

Standard office environment with minimal exposure to loud machinery.

Must be comfortable working around pets.

Education / Experience :

Bachelor's degree in Accounting / Finance or comparable work experience.

Minimum 2 years work experience, with demonstrated advancement preferred

Proficient with common business systems including Word, PowerPoint, Excel

May have advanced skill level using analytical systems depending on prior experience

Should be able to develop knowledge of more advanced analytical capabilities

If the regulatory minimum wage exceeds the minimum indicated in the pay range below, the regulatory minimum wage will be the minimum rate applied.
