Main Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Provide high-quality medical care to patients, including examinations, diagnoses, treatments, and surgeries. Document all patient observations, findings, and interactions in the medical record.
- Dental Procedures: Perform routine and complex dental procedures, including full dental examinations, extractions, and oral surgical procedures.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with clients, referral hospitals, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of patient care.
Nature of Supervision: As a veterinarian at our hospital, you will work under the supervision of the Hospital Medical Leader or Area Medical Director. You will have discretion in making decisions regarding patient care, but must uphold the standards set forth in the Petco Veterinary SOPs.
Professional Requirements:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
- Active licensure as a veterinarian without contingencies in the state where the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date
- Current Controlled Substance License, if applicable, in the state where the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date
- Comfortable performing anesthesia and routine surgeries, including canine and feline spays, neuters, mass removals, and dentals
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
