Logistics Coordinator (L0890)

The Logistics Coordinator will support the companywide logistics program.  Duties will entail direct involvement with the outbound shipment of products to customers as well as inbound shipments of raw materials, parts and supplies.  Efforts will focus upon both truck and rail shipments.  The Logistics Coordinator conducts analyses focused upon improvements in delivery methods or overall cost-effectiveness and offers related recommendations. 

Duties and Responsibilities

The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:

• Serve as a direct liaison to third-party haulers (either truck or rail) for coordinating shipments
• Provide support to the Sales and Operations teams with forecasting and other related efforts
• Assist with planning initiatives ensuring adequate product supply to customers during plant outages
• Administer inventory management controls for customer-related inventories
• Evaluate means to improve efficiencies with loading techniques or other related systems
• Provide support with trans-loading arrangements
• Negotiate freight terms with haulers for delivery of both outbound and inbound products or raw materials
• Ensure adherence to pre-determined agreements or standards and assist with resolving order, shipment and billing discrepancies

Essential Skills, Qualifications and Expectations

The Logistics Coordinator should be proficient with the following skillsets:

• Standard typing and computing skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office products
• Ability to learn new software systems as necessary (i.e. IFS, various rail management systems, etc.)
• Understanding the importance of maintaining productive relationships among all stakeholders
• Willingness to work in office-centered as well as out-of-office environments (limited frequency)
• Willingness to work outside of normal business hours during upset conditions (limited frequency)
