Day Shift Flaking Floor Lead | 2-2-3 Schedule 7a-730p
Reporting directly to the respective Flaking Supervisor, the Flaking Floor Lead is responsible for leading the flaking production team while working on the floor.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
- A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required
- Position-specific vocational education/experience, training, or certification is preferred
- Stand-up forklift certification required; in house certification will be provided prior to start.
Kind & Length of Experience:
- At least two-year working in the flaking department or as a chemical operator in a similar facility
- At least one year of sit-down forklift experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to work in extreme climates (high/low)
- Able to work a 12-hour shift with rotating schedule
- Able to walk upstairs, climb ladders, and walk long distances
- Able to independently lift up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis during shift.
PERFORMANCE MEASURES AND STANDARDS
- Mechanical aptitude – knowledge of machines and tools including design, use, repair, and maintenance
- Proficient with the normal use of computer software/hardware
- Solid understanding and application of basic math principles
- Review/generate completed production documentation for quality requirements
- Meet all stated timing deadlines for documentation
- Perform and/or facilitate on the job training for new operators
- Facilitate and perform the ongoing development and training of operators
- Act as liaison to coordinate production activity within department and with support groups as needed
- Supervise completion of work by assigning work to crew members on an as needed basis, with preference given to facilitating work flow as a team approach
- Perform railcar duties as required
- Perform control room duties as required
- Maintain oversight of all flaking floor operations and personnel
- Openly share and communicate all production priorities to crew
- Foster and promote an atmosphere of teamwork
- Attend production meetings, report the daily pack out/thru-put and downtime, delay issues (i.e. late truck arrivals, mechanical/equipment downtime, etc.) on time and without error
- Read, understand and comply with Good Manufacturing Practices and all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs)
- Participate in departmental reviews/updates current SOPs/WIs/Forms and writing of new SOPs/WIs/Forms
- Participate in troubleshooting, efficiency and improvement activities, including corresponding documentation activities
- Complete job tasks to meet department schedule
- Strong commitment to safety and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards
- Support efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care 14001 (RC14001)/Environment, Health, Safety, & Sustainability (EHS&S) management system
- Conform with the EHS&S Policy and the Cardinal Rules
- Maintain a safe and secure workplace and meet environmental site requirements
- Support the EHS&S objectives and targets, and any specific action plans or management programs assigned
- Understand the EHS&S risks and impacts of the employee’s job and functional area, including appropriate controls and procedures
- Understand the EHS&S impacts/consequence that could result if specified procedures are not followed
- Report accidents and incidents to a supervisor or the EHS&S department
- Participate in required EHS&S training
- Other duties as requested.
