Job Summary: Staff Accountant

Accountant:
- Process accounts payable checks and wire payments weekly and maintain the bank account fraud service application.
- Prepare cash flow projections and cash indicators, which management reviews weekly.
- Compile commission reports monthly.
- Maintain resale certificates and reconcile transactions per month.
- Maintain backup for assets and keep accounts updated.
- Process bi-weekly payroll, update earnings and deductions, and manage employee onboarding and offboarding as needed.
- Verify freight invoices and research discrepancies, and correspond with freight carriers for corrections.
- Post journal entries to the general ledger as needed.
- Manage health insurance, property/liability, worker compensation, and other benefit/contract services.
- Monitor/Manage employee 401k plan account.
- Ad hoc analysis and reporting as requested in-house or by federal/state agencies, e.g., census reports, workers' compensation audits, etc.
- Assist AR with invoices, mail backup price lists, and other duties as requested and as feasible.
- Assist the Purchasing department with purchase order receipts, landed cost calculations, related freight invoicing, and other duties as feasible.
- Contribute to a team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, business, or related field.
- 5 years as a general ledger accountant with a complete understanding of journal entries and their impact on financial statements.
- General ledger software experience.
- Profitability and product analysis.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
