Preschool Teaching Assistant (.9 FTE)
Position Summary:
The role of the Preschool Teaching Assistant is to support eligible students in the general education classroom, learning centers, and across all school settings as appropriate.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
• May be assigned as 1:1 in an integrated preschool, as a general assistant, or in any combination thereof; specific job duties vary across preschool classrooms and students’ needs;
• Work with the special education team and preschool teacher to devise and implement
strategies for students and modify activities to reinforce the learning or behavior of all students as outlined in students IEPs and OWL curriculum;
• Work with large & small groups and individuals to reinforce learning of materials introduced by the teacher;
• Assist the teacher in devising and implementing strategies for reinforcing skills of students;
• Assist in the administration, scoring, and recording of student assessment system (GOLD);
• Support therapeutic strategies and interventions as appropriate;
• Communicate with the teacher regarding student concerns and needs, both academic and behavioral;
• Assist with supervision of students during non-class time, including, but not limited to, the following: recess, lunch, assemblies and school meetings, transportation, school arrival, and departure, emergency drills, and other situations as deemed appropriate for the grade level and position;
• Participate in all job-related workshops;
• Attend to the personal care and hygiene needs of students in accordance with the IEP, as appropriate;
• Assist in classroom routine and management;
• Serve as a source of information and help to substitute teachers;
• Supervise/lead class during times when the lead teacher attends meetings;
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
