What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Billing Specialist position at Petersen Drug?
Billing Clerk prepares claims, both primary and secondary, for submission to insurance companies, Medicaid, and Medicare including additional documentation as required. Responsible for collecting accounts receivable from insurance companies, Medicaid, Medicare, and private individuals.
Position Requirements: Include high school diploma, computer and analytical skills, and previous experience with billing or collections or ability to be trained. Most initial training is computer based, so applicant must be comfortable with this learning environment. Good customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required. Applicant must be proficient with basic computer skills such as Microsoft Office, scanning, and internet usage. Must have ability to sit at desk for at least 8 hours and tolerate repetitive motions.
Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, which includes submitting all claims in a timely manner, and addressing all denial and non-payment issues. Billing Clerk will be responsible for gathering additional documentation for billing and submitting according to the insurance company and/or Medicaid/Medicare requirements, including contacting physicians for additional paperwork and/or signatures. They will work with both weekly and monthly reports to ensure that all billing is kept current and accurate. Billing Clerk will be responsible for follow-up on accounts receivable that are 90 days old, and coordinate collection.
Additionally, Billing Clerk will be responsible for assisting with customer service and sales, phone calls, assisting clients with billing questions, and maintaining store cleanliness. Must adhere to health and safety policies and other requirements relating to care of equipment, and perform all duties in an efficient, professional and courteous manner. Billing Clerk must be punctual, maintain regular, consistent and professional attendance, maintain personal appearance, and adhere to relevant health and safety procedures.
Pay will start at $14.00 per hour while you are on your probationary period. After probation we will discuss a substantial raise based upon your experience and performance.
