Job Description
Peterson Cat has a need for an IS Service Area Technician who will be based at our Hillsboro, OR location.
Summary
The IS Service Area Technician supports systems managed by Peterson’s Information Technology department. Responsibilities include building notebooks and desktops for new and existing technicians, imaging systems, troubleshooting hardware and software problems, installing software, opening and closing help desk tickets, prioritizing tasks, installing specialty applications from Caterpillar, Navistar and other vendors. Responsibilities also include setting up workstations, installing printers, taking phone calls, providing remote support of field systems. This role also provides support for some systems administration tasks including backup, setting up user access, password resets, risk management and other tasks as assigned.

Associates Degree from a fully accredited college in a related field preferred; and a minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in supporting a multi-site helpdesk environment, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

- Installation and support for all user applications and enterprise applications- including specialty software from our vendor partners (Caterpillar, Navistar, Trimble)
- Perform workstation, laptop, and tablet builds
- Use existing software and process to properly document issue resolutions and builds
- Create, transfer, and maintain software license contracts
- Setup/teardown and troubleshooting of mobile Audio-Visual equipment for company events
- Monitor and troubleshoot Conference Room videoconferencing equipment
- Provide end user support and troubleshooting in-person, by phone, and by email
- Provide technical assistance in-person and remotely to executive and director-level staff
- Provide technical assistance for in-person meetings
- Coordinate frequently with Peterson personnel and 3rd party vendors to plan and schedule work.
- Operate company, personal or rental vehicle as needed
- Assist the extended Helpdesk team with tickets as needed
- Travel up to 40% of the time to visit and support branch store locations in California, Oregon, and Washington to install equipment, to troubleshoot, and to maintain good IT housekeeping at these sites
- Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.

- Must be available to work after hours and weekends
- Must be a proven troubleshooter with exceptional customer service skills.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
- CompTIA A license preferred, or equivalent experience can be substituted
