Peterson Cat has a need for a Rental Equipment Manager who can be based at either our Eugene, OR or Salem, OR location.
Summary
The Rental Equipment Manager is responsible for all rental inventory service activities including; directing repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspections as required by law (American National Standards Institute (ANSI), Department of Transportation (DOT), Crane, etc.) in a fast-paced environment. The purpose of the position of Rental Equipment Manager is to maximize fleet up time by creating an efficient return to ready processes while minimizing expenses.
Essential Job Functions

Associates Degree from a fully accredited college or vocational/technical school in Diesel Technology; and a minimum of six years of directly related experience in the rental equipment operations business, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license, with an acceptable driving record and have access to reliable transportation.

- Act to reduce maintenance and repair costs through oversight and implementation of cost savings ideas and practices. Goal: 12% of rental revenue or less.
- Continuously develop and improve the return to ready process to maximize equipment available for rent.
- Oversee work orders, preventative maintenance and inspection records for accuracy and completion within legal, manufacturer and company guidelines.
- Review workorder estimates on all customer damage chargebacks and track customer invoicing and payments received.
- Ensure warranty claims are filed for all eligible repairs and track warranty payments from vendors.
- File and track Equipment Protection Plan (EPP) claims and payments for customer damages.
- Establish and track compliance of repair approval monetary limits with rental technicians and product support team.
- Coordinate/negotiate repairs of equipment that is outside of our expertise with third party vendors.
- Communicate with rental technicians regarding repair recommendations and rental management re: economic decisions to auction or scrap units.
- Provide technical support and assistance to rental technicians, including failure analysis.
- Evaluate rental technician skills and provide on-the-job technical training to department technicians as needed and schedule formal training activities for department technicians as necessary.
- Keep current on technical aspects, and company requirements for Caterpillar and Allied vendors.
- Ensure completion of manufacturer recall notices in a timely manner.
- Assist with safety meetings, accident investigations, and training department personnel on safe work procedures where required.
- Develop and maintain relationships with product support management for increased synergy.
- Maintain best in class customer relations; intercede to help resolve problems internally and externally.
- Assist rental management in evaluating the mechanical skills of technician applicants.
- Travel is required to branch stores often overnight.
- Operate company or personal vehicle as needed.
