What are the responsibilities and job description for the Professional Development Instructor position at Peterson's?
The Professional Development Instructor is a full-time position for our Professional Certification and Development courses. The instructor will be responsible for teaching assigned courses in project management, agile, and leadership development.
Project Management instructors are responsible for instructing the curriculum as written, following all guidelines provided by Petersons. Instructors are expected to deliver engaging courses that use the best practices of adult education and online learning. This includes pursuit of the following pedagogical vision:
• Connecting new information with related knowledge from the instructor’s previous experiences to help students make sense of and retain new information.
• Active engagement with content, like creating solutions and applying concepts through provided exercises that simulate certification exam and helps students develop usable knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Iterative application of concepts with rich feedback helps learners develop competency.
• Exam Simulations that replicate exam questions requiring application of knowledge, skills, and/or abilities.
Responsibilities
SME of curriculum content 25%
• Provide written feedback, using Petersons evaluation tools, for course content including slide decks, instructor guides, delivery procedures and timing documents
• Meet development due dates and submit curriculum and materials as requested
• Review course evaluation feedback and assist in improving curriculum and instruction based on that feedback.
• Occasionally meet with staff to review feedback from course evaluations
Live Instruction 60%
• Prepare for Zoom sessions
• Facilitate courses in Zoom or in person as scheduled
Tutoring/Coaching 15%
• Prepare for individual tutoring sessions with students
• Use best practices to assist students who are struggling
Qualifications
Minimum Credentials: Bachelor's degree, PMP® Certified from PMI®
Minimum Professional Experience: 4 years of work experience in Project Management or related work, and at least one year of teaching experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Deep knowledge of the course subject matter
• Ability to explain concepts in ways that help others learn
• Ability to facilitate a learning environment using best practices for online and in-person learning
• Ability to facilitate discussions and learning activities that both encourages and helps learners develop knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated knowledge & skills in DEI in classroom instruction
Preferred Qualifications
· Preferred Professional Experience: 6 years of work experience related to project management
