The primary goal of the Print Manager is to contribute to the overall success of operations. This role involves overseeing the flexographic plate-making process, ensuring all plants receive the necessary plates on time to meet production schedules. Additionally, the Print Manager will supervise four line operators in the 24/7 offset printing cell (across two lines), ensuring production targets and deadlines are met. As a key member of the management team, the Print Manager will also be responsible for understanding and enforcing company and plant policies related to safety, 6S/housekeeping, visual management tools, audits, and spot checks.
Responsibilities
- Drive operational excellence on all print operations, developing plans to consistently meet production goals. This will include scoping/scheduling regular autonomous and preventative maintenance activities
- Staff lines and ensure training is understood and adhered to
- Create standard work for print operators to include (at a minimum): daily standard work, startup/shut down procedures, changeover procedures, cleaning procedures, and standard operating conditions
- Utilize ERP data to analyze production trends and report to the Plant Manager once per week and develop corrective actions where necessary
- Adhere to the inventory spot check schedule and drive compliance for proper issuing/maintenance. Understand and personally spot check paper, alcohol, ink, solvent, and all other consumables associated with the printing operation. Report on non-compliance with Plant Manager and assist with follow-up training
- Personally spot check CI tools on each shift on a weekly basis and track results HRxHR, SOCs, Standard Work, Work orders, etc
- Participate in monthly Safety Committee meetings and zone audits. Ensure bi-weekly zone audits are complete, results are displayed, and corrective actions are followed through
- Champion 6S compliance across all shifts. Ensure audit schedule is adhered to, results are collected, and corrective actions are followed through
- Participate in daily GEMBA walks
- Understand all plant policies and metrics. Enforce, explain and set an example as a member of the plant leadership team
- All other duties as assigned by Management
Education
- Bachelors degree in Manufacturing, Printing Technology, Engineering or relevant work experience in a similar role
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- 5 years leading/managing in an operational environment, printing processes preferred
- Understand Lean Manufacturing concepts
- Experience with writing and controlling documentation for technical procedures
- Ability to translate technical information into conveyable formats for use in the plant
- Ability to find/develop training as necessary to accomplish tasks
- Ability to multi-task to move several projects forward simultaneously
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and writing skills, interacting at all levels
- Experience effectively presenting to large and small groups
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent organization and follow through skills
