What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant Course Instructor - Part Time position at Petra Allied Health?
Experienced Veterinary Assistant (CVA) to teach our Veterinary Assistant 8 week, 48 hour courses. Meets Tuesday & Thursdays, either afternoons (2pm to 5pm) or evenings (6pm to 9pm), or both. Utilize Petra's curriculum, exams, quizzes etc, just be prepared for each lesson.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
At least 3 years experience. In order to be approved as an instructor at Petra by the Ark Division of Higher Education, you must fit into at least ONE of the following criteria:
Hold not less than a high school diploma or GED; and have seven (7) years of on-the-job training directly related to the program in which they are teaching; and hold the appropriate certificate, license, or rating (if the occupation is one requiring certificate, license, or rating). OR;
Hold not less than a high school diploma or GED; and shall have completed a program of instruction at a recognized school in a field directly related to the program in which they are teaching; and have three (3) years of on-the-job training directly related to the program in which they are teaching; and hold the appropriate certificate, license, or rating (if the occupation is one requiring certificate, license, or rating). OR;
Hold not less than an associate degree not directly related to the program in which they are teaching; and have two (2) years of on-the-job training directly related to the program in which they are teaching; and hold the appropriate certificate, license, or rating (if the occupation is one requiring certificate, license, or rating). OR;
Hold not less than an associate degree; and have one (1) year of on-the-job training, both of which shall be directly related to the program in which they are teaching; and hold the appropriate certificate, license, or rating (if the occupation is one requiring certificate, license, or rating). OR;
Hold not less than a baccalaureate degree in a field not directly related to the program in which they are teaching; and have one (1) year of on-the-job training directly related to the program in which they are teaching; and hold the appropriate certificate, license, or rating (if the occupation is one requiring certificate, license, or rating). OR;
Hold not less than a baccalaureate degree in a field not directly related to the program in which they are teaching; and have not less than 15 semester hours or equivalent directly related to the program in which they are teaching; and hold the appropriate certificate, license, or rating (if the occupation is one requiring certificate, license, or rating). OR;
Hold not less than a baccalaureate degree in a field directly related to the course; and hold the appropriate certificate, license, or rating (if the occupation is one requiring certificate, license, or rating).
You would also need to have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate & interact with students.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare lessons and teach classes.
- Communicate and deliver the course curriculum provided by the Administration
- Maintain accurate records on all students, including but not limited to attendance records, schedules, grades, and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content.
- Evaluate and document students’ progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained. Evaluate students’ clinical progress regularly including using standardized assessment tools (if applicable).
- Communicate with the Program Director, and program partners in order to collaborate, align instruction, monitor students’ progress and identify issues the students’ may have while attending classes.
- Provide a stimulating environment that encourages student participation, interpersonal skills development, and concepts of good patient care.
- Promote the mission of the Petra’s program in a positive manner with all staff, participants and partners.
- Ensures classroom and equipment are kept clean and orderly.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 6 – 12 per week
