We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Construction Safety Inspector to join our team and help us ensure the safety and well-being of our workforce, contractors, and clients.
Position Overview:
The Construction Safety Inspector will be responsible for monitoring and enforcing safety regulations on construction sites. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of safety protocols and OSHA 1926 for Construction, be proactive in identifying potential hazards, and have the ability to collaborate with teams to implement safety solutions. The role is essential in ensuring that projects are completed without incidents and within safety guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Identify and report potential hazards or unsafe working conditions to Petra's Superintendents and complete safety inspection documents.
- Educate workers and subcontractors on safe work practices and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Review and enforce safety plans and procedures for each project.
- Ensure that safety measures are properly implemented, including fall protection, equipment use, and emergency preparedness.
- Assist with accidents or safety incident investigations, and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Promote a culture of safety.
- Stay up to date with changes in state and federal OSHA safety regulations and best practices.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- OSHA 30-hour Construction certification required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in construction safety, safety inspections, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of construction safety standards, regulations, and hazard identification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while remaining focused on safety.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience using Procore a plus.
