What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laborer position at Petro Star?
Responsible for supporting the refinery operations and maintenance departments. The primary focus will be operations support at the Truck Loading Rack and will monitor, test, and maintain records of incoming fuel haulers intending to load fuel from the PSVR Truck Loading Rack. Follow specific company policies and procedures in the screening and authorizing of fuel haulers to safely load at the Truck Rack. Monitor Truck Loading operations throughout their shift to ensure that activities comply with safety, environmental, and operating policies and procedures. A secondary focus will be additional operations and maintenance support assisting in typical day-to-day operations.
Refinery- Laborer is in an hourly position and will work a 12-hour shift, seven days on and seven days off, working a straight day shift schedule. The schedule is subject to change based on the refinery's operational needs. Laborers will report directly to the on-shift Lead Operator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)
1. Utilize stringent fuel truck/trailer screening procedures and associated testing apparatus on fuel haulers intending to load fuel at the PSVR Truck Rack.
2. Understand in detail the testing and screening process of the fuel haulers utilizing a five-gas monitor and nitrogen purging system.
3. Maintain accurate and complete records of the required details and data related to the screening and testing of the incoming fuel haulers.
4. Knowledgeable of Truck Rack emergency procedures and response.
5. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
6. Assist in snow removal and maintaining access to the Truck Rack shelters and support equipment. Shovel snow and keep walkways clear.
7. Assist Operations and Safety in weekly and monthly fixed and mobile equipment inspections.
8. Learn tasks without repeated instruction and with minimal supervision.
9. Assist in Refinery maintenance work, i.e., clay and Sulfa Treat removal and installation, installation of new equipment, and other duties that do not interfere with the position's primary purpose.
10. Participate in oil spill response drills and emergencies.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
2. Must have and maintain an Alaska driver’s license with a clean driving record.
3. Live within the Valdez area.
