Petroplan is working exclusively with a global energy company to staff an exciting LNG production and export terminal mega-project. We are recruiting a talented professional for a Structural Engineer position, based in Houston, TX who meets the following criteria.
Reports To : Engineering Manager
Purpose :
The Structural Engineer will be responsible for project level coordination of structural engineering activities, ensuring that all engineering work is completed on schedule, on budget, and in accordance with company and industry best work practices and quality standards.
Responsibilities : HSEQ
Ensure compliance with Company & Project and industry HSSE policies, standards, and regulations throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
Ensure all design, construction, and maintenance activities comply with industry codes, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
Contribute to HSEQ performance, promoting a positive and collaborative team culture.
Leadership
Review and provide oversight for the work of engineers and designers developing engineering and design documents for piling and foundation structures as well as module and stick-built steel pipe racks / structures.
Serve as a technical resource and point of contact for external and internal customers.
Work collaboratively across departments, involving others in solving problems, and initiate meetings within the team or with other disciplines to ensure clarity.
Work Processes & Systems
Manage multiple assignments simultaneously with a focus on efficiency and compliance.
Review and monitor compliance with design requirements, including standards, specifications, local codes, and regulations.
Conduct regular reviews of vendor documents to ensure specifications and data sheet requirements are met.
Assist in or review cost estimates, quantity take-offs, forecasts, and change orders for ongoing projects, proposals, and modifications.
Work with project teams as a representative, coordinating efforts within the discipline department.
Technical
Independently perform structural design work for an assigned scope within LNG onshore projects.
Apply standard design details per ACI, AISC, PIP, OSHA, and Company safety standards, as well as other applicable codes and industry standards.
Provide technical guidance to contractors and vendors.
Address and respond to RFIs from the EPC contractors.
Ensure proficient use of engineering tools and software, including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint.
Key Accountabilities

Lead and monitor structural design activities to meet quality and safety standards.
Serve as a key point of contact for technical queries and design clarifications.
Drive improvements in design quality and cost-efficiency.
Skills & Experience
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Proficient in engineering tools and software, including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities based on data analysis.
Ability to self-direct work with limited supervision.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to engage with cross-functional teams.
Strong organizational and multitasking capabilities.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering (minimum requirement).
Licensed Professional Engineer (preferred).
10-18 years of relevant experience in the refining and petrochemical industry or LNG projects.
Proven experience in managing and responding to RFIs.
Familiarity with industry standards such as ACI, AISC, PIP, and OSHA.
Demonstrated ability to lead projects and provide mentorship to team members.
