Title: Product Definition Engineer (CAD Designer – Level I)
Work Location: Schenectady, NY OR Greenville, SC, USA
Assignment Duration: 18 months (W2 Contract)
The Product Definition team develops new technical solutions, processes, and automation software for Digital Thread. The Product Definition Engineer will work closely with design engineering and manufacturing to solve challenging enterprise problems and effectively communicate business goals and accomplishments across all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities and/or Tasks to be Performed:
· Create parametric 3D models with PMI (Product & Manufacturing Information), Bill of Materials, and 2D drawings supporting conceptual design through final build of the gas turbine.
· Define geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) required for proper clearances and fits while maximizing manufacturing capabilities.
· Prioritize quality through self-checking, interference analysis and adherence to company processes and CAD standards.
· Utilize applicable Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system (Enovia) to manage and issue product definition data.
· Utilize applicable checking and productivity tools. Provide feedback for improvements.
· Work closely with our global experienced team in model-based product definition process changes and advanced manufacturing technologies.
· Provide modeling, meshing and analysis support to cross-functional teams to improve or resolve design, performance, manufacturing, supplier, or field issues.
· Support testing and integration of new digital tools and processes
· Demonstrate professional leadership characteristics such as team leading/team building, interpersonal skills, and effective communication skills
Minimum Qualifications/Skills:
· Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, design or other (STEM) course study from an accredited University or College.
· Proficiency with NX or another advanced CAD platform preferred.
· Understanding of CAD Software and modeling
Desired Qualifications:
· Demonstrated mechanical/electrical design aptitude.
· Experience in mechanical/electrical design applications and manufacturing processes.
· Working knowledge of Bill of Materials systems and drafting tools/standards.
· Experience with Unigraphics NX or relevant CAD systems.
· Working knowledge of Power Generation (Steam Turbine, Gas Turbine and/or Generator Equipment).
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
· Flexibility in handling a diverse and challenging workload.
· Highly motivated & self-directing/self-starter.
