Summary Of Position

Responsible for working with the rest of the insights team to collect and summarize data on customers’ needs, motivations, experiences, perceptions, and behaviors to develop actionable insights that tie to the business goals. Success in this role requires confidence in building connections between various sources, peeling the layers back, and defining the “why” to identify actionable business opportunities for the company. You will develop and implement strategies for understanding the company’s customers through primary and secondary research methodologies. You will develop both a broad and deep knowledge of our customers’ experience with our products and must build internal equity as one of the subject matter experts of the customer. The ideal candidate will be naturally inquisitive and empathetic, have strong project management skills, and be enthusiastic about being a part of a dynamic and growing research team.

Responsibilities

  • As a researcher, set up kick-off meetings to understand stakeholder expectations, business needs and decisions to be made, and then use that information to design the appropriate study to address these questions.
  • Fully “own” projects from start to finish. This includes gathering stakeholders, delegating tasks to other researchers, setting up/programming, fielding, and analyzing research studies using the appropriate platform and research best practices.
  • Analyze findings, including buying habits and consumer opinions, and develop product or marketing recommendations meant to create more value, improve market penetration, or increase sales.
  • Collaborate with brand and marketing teams to support internal ad-hoc requests and business questions by analyzing a variety of data sets and communicating key insights.
  • Collaborate with the UX team to develop new product ideas by exploring the white space and help bridge the gap between research insights and product development with the categories and engineering teams.
  • Plan and conduct usability research projects, including working sessions, walkthroughs, surveys, interviews, or focus groups.
  • Leverage quantitative platforms (Qualtrics) to validate research findings in a statistically significant way that drives business decisions.
  • Collect data and develop customer profiles or personas meant to describe the target customer and define their needs; translate findings into design requirements or guardrails.
  • Provide actionable insights from advanced data mining, segmentation, customer profiling, and quantitative analyses. Provide insights through diagnostic and predictive analytics.
  • Plan, build and write actionable reports of research findings for internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, Research or related field or work experience. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Should have 4 years’ experience or relatable proficiency using a mixed methods quantitative approach. Proven experience in survey designing, programming, data analysis, and summarizing findings to actionable recommendations. Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and software.
  • Proven expertise in qualitative research to identify customer needs: both short and in-depth interviews, intercept interviews, observations, and open-ended responses such as reviews. Experience with ethnographic and exploratory research is a plus.
  • Business analysis skills, with the ability to visualize data, thread to implications, and provide consultative solutions and recommendations.
  • Detail orientation and ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Can take broad questions and refine them into tightly defined data requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Excellent computer and technical skills- must be particularly experienced with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Comfortable using Qualtrics (or other quantitative platforms) and Dscout (or similar online qualitative platforms).

Accountabilities

  • Should be comfortable doing advanced quantitative surveys.
  • Ability and eagerness to create personas and user stories that directly tie to product design and UX/UI decisions.
  • Ability and eagerness to delegate, problem solve and think on your feet if project schedules get changed.
  • Experience analyzing large datasets and communicating recommendations to internal stakeholders.
