What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corrections Officer position at Pettis County Jail?
- Supervision of detainees and detainee activity in detention facilities.
- Provides care and correctional treatment of detainees.
- Manages detainee holding areas.
- Ensures that detainees remain in custody.
- Transports and escorts detainees within secured areas according to relevant laws, policies, and procedures.
- Contributes to the maintenance of institution security and safety standards.
- Performs searches on detainees and visitors for contraband items.
- Checks mail for contraband, such as weapons or drugs.
- Prepares incident reports and other documentation of conduct.
- Enforces rules and regulations governing facility security, detainee conduct, detainee accountability, and keep order within the jail.
- Conducts accurate headcounts.
- Inventories detainees’ personal property and issues receipts.
- Break up physical confrontations and protect detainees and fellow officers from harm.
- Provides emergency assistance as needed, including but not limited to CPR, first aid, escape of detainees, and evacuation procedures.
- Supervise activities of detainees.
