What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Designer/Engineer position at Pettit & Pettit Consulting Engineers Inc?
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare mechanical CAD/Revit drawings for the work assigned
- Read and interpret construction documents
- Demonstrate full understanding of packaged and hydronic HVAC systems. Projects frequently require field observation of existing systems to determine extents of modification or replacement.
- Piping & ductwork layout and design
- Gather mechanical data from clients, architects, and other disciplines
- Perform heat load calculations in order to size HVAC systems
- Writing mechanical equipment controls sequences
- Coordinating project with other disciplines
- Reviewing construction documents such as shop drawings, responding to contractor requests, and attending construction meetings
- Using and designing per ASHRAE, NFPA, IBC, etc.
- Writing mechanical specifications per project requirements
Qualifications
- Designer, EIT, PE all considered
- Proficient skills in AutoCAD, Revit preferred. We will be expected to learn Revit
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, project specifications, and contract documents and apply this information to CAD drawings
- Ability to read, comprehend and write instructions and memos
- Strong written and communication skills
- Practical problem solving skills to be applied in a variety of situations
- Ability to exercise independent judgement and discretion
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Able to prioritize multiple tasks
- Must be able to work well clients, staff and consultants
- Relocation and Per Diem are not available for this position
