The Position
As a Staff Accountant you will play an important part in a growing team tasked with creating and maintaining clean financial records for PetVet365 as well as the individual hospitals that make up our company. Your responsibilities will include reconciliations, journal entries, processing invoices and other accounting duties as assigned. While the role is primarily that of an individual contributor, you will collaborate closely with other members of the Finance team and will report to the VP of Finance. This is a fully remote position, but we are looking for a candidate in the EST or MT time zone.
Primary Responsibilities
• Participate in various day-to-day accounting operations, including processing accounts payable / accounts receivable as well as posting general ledger entries.
• Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Process invoices and payments for accounts payable.
• Assist in managing accounts receivable, including tracking outstanding invoices and preparing aging reports.
• Ensure all accounting activities comply with internal policies and procedures as well as legal requirements.
• Reconcile key accounts and identify sources of variation.
• Answer questions from veterinarian partners regarding accounting entries and policies
• Support multi-entity consolidations and eliminations within NetSuite.
• Assist with audit preparation.
• Prepare and file sales and use tax returns.
• Perform other accounting duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/business or related discipline preferred, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
Physical Requirements
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others online or telephonically.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to travel as necessary to Team meetings and hospitals, as needed.
