We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team at a non-surgical clinic specializing in the care of cats and dogs. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will provide essential support to our veterinarians, ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic and delivering exceptional care to our furry patients. Responsibilities:
1. Animal Handling and Care:
- Assist veterinarians with restraining and handling cats and dogs during examinations and procedures.
- Administer medications and treatments under the supervision of veterinarians.
2. Clinic Maintenance and Cleanliness:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms, treatment areas, and other clinic spaces.
- Ensure a safe and comfortable environment for animals and clients.
3. Client Communication and Education:
- Communicate with clients regarding appointment scheduling, follow-up care, and general inquiries.
- Educate clients on basic animal care and medication administration
- Display exceptional customer service skills, addressing client concerns with empathy and professionalism.
4. Administrative Support:
- Maintain accurate records of patient information, medical history, and treatments in electronic or paper format.
- Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining stock levels.
- Handle billing and payment processing as necessary.
5. Collaborative Teamwork:
- Collaborate with veterinarians, and any other team memberscyo ensure seamless patient care.
- Support colleagues during examinations, treatments, and emergencies.
- Foster a positive and respectful work environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in veterinary assistance is a plus.
- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated passion for animal welfare and an understanding of basic animal care practices.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with clients and colleagues.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and gently.
- Knowledge of common veterinary medications, treatments, and procedures.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and record-keeping.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays as required.
