POSITION: Agriculture Mechanics Teacher
LOCATION: Pewitt High School
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with experience, education, and background
CONTRACT DAYS: 220
Position Summary: Responsible for teaching students about agricultural mechanics, welding, and technical math while managing the classroom, shop, and ensuring student safety. Collaborate and share responsibilities with the agriculture faculty to strengthen, expand, and excel the local FFA chapter program.
Position Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Licenses/Other: Appropriate State of Texas Teaching Certificate
Clear and valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License
CDL Class B plus Passenger (P) Endorsement & School Bus (S) Endorsement
Illustrative Duties:
- Expert in Agriculture Mechanics; manages metal shop operations and safety
- Mentoring students as part of a team of FFA advisors and coordinating competitions
- Oversees Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAE)
- Demonstrates skills in budget management, including proper allocation of funds, and maintenance of accurate financial records
- Builds effective relationships with students, parents, and industry partners
