Job Description
The Machine Shop Shift Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supervising the activities of production machining in the machine shop, as well as producing machined parts operating CNC and other semi-automated equipment. Key duties include:
- Process Documentation and Quality Control: Responsible for documenting processes and quality controls to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Maintenance and Training: Manage, maintain, and train personnel on operation of equipment, ensuring they are proficient in setup and operation of CNC, semi-automated, and manual equipment.
- Quality Control and Production Scheduling: Ensure quality control standards are maintained while meeting production schedules, maintaining a high level of product quality and efficiency.
- Shift Continuity and Safety: Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs, as well as maintaining safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Effective Communication: Possess good communication skills in English, both oral and written, to effectively communicate with team members, management, and customers.
- Supervisory Experience: Previous experience in supervision of general machining, including setting up and operating CNC and manual mills and lathes for machining of metal and plastic components.
- CNC Programming and Tooling Knowledge: Experience programming CNC mills and lathes, at the machine, preferably on Haas machines, and knowledge of CNC mill and lathe tooling, including developing and programming mill and lathe processes.
- Precision Measuring Equipment and Blueprint Reading: Ability to use and understand basic precision measuring equipment and read and understand blueprints, customer sketches, written specifications, and/or drawings.
- Education and Interpersonal Skills: High School diploma or GED, excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment with numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity.
