Job Summary
The OSP Communications Ground Hand Laborer works alongside equipment operators, linemen, and splicers to perform maintenance and new build on outside plant equipment. This role involves assisting with the placement, rearrangement, and removal of poles, conduit, cable lines, handholes, pedestals, and drops.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with aerial and underground OSP construction crews
- Fill out paperwork as required
- Assist in installing lines and cables, including strand, fiber, coax, and copper
- Perform other duties as requested by crew foreman
- Keep detailed records of work activity
Safety Duties & Responsibilities:
- Adhere to federal and local occupational safety and health regulations
- Promote industry consensus standards
- Participate in job site safety/hazard analysis
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED, technical or college degree preferred
- Ability to stand, walk, crawl, and work in various environments
- Valid driver's license is required
- Must be able to work nights and weekends
- Exhibit a tendency for continuing education and self-improvement

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating instructions
