About the role
We are looking for a qualified OSP Engineer to join the growing team. We are looking for someone that has experience with outside, inside plant, aerial and/or underground facilities, with a thorough knowledge of all issues related to federal, state or local government permitting; as well as pole and conduit licensing procedures with utility permitting agencies. Must have experience with obtaining necessary agreement, license, or any other type of approval regarding deeds, leases, easements, and rights-of-way (ROW). The OSP Engineer must work cohesively with the Field Engineering / Construction Manager and a team of Make-Ready Field Engineers to produce application packages and provide routine reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Receive field data collected, analyze local and wide area network systems, and develop most cost-efficient fiber network route design in accordance with customer specifications and guidelines.
- Read and understand highway/road prints, utility maps, and as-builts to identify conflicts with existing facilities.
- Collaborate with any necessary vendor, as well as internal GIS and CAD teams to produce all required documentation for application packages.
- Follow very specific and detailed procedures already implemented while remaining flexible enough to readily adapt to changing standards and procedures without notice.
- Coordinate with project team for forecasting, scheduling, resources management, and quality assurance.
- Review project deliverables for accuracy and apprise project management team of risks, issues, and recommended mitigations.
- Work in tandem with various managers across the project to identify scope creep, manage to change orders, and complete routine billing.
- Ensures the integrity of the customer access network is maintained and provides support for the deployment of access technologies.
- Assist with as-built package completion and delivery as well as billing closeout.
- Sound OSP/ISP engineering experience deploying fiber optic networks - Knowledge of engineering principles within OSP/ISP job related functional area including general practices, procedures, and industry standards.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of fiber optic counts, fiber assignments, and splicing schematics in a high-density fiber environment.
- Experience working in all aspects of telecom. with knowledge of NESC, NEC and OSHA standards.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with proven problem-solving ability, self-motivation, leadership, and team building capabilities with the ability to negotiate and motivate others.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels: from team members to executive management.
- Knowledge of engineering tools including AutoCAD, OCalc, EZLoad, iBwave, 3-GIS,or any similar GIS/KMZ platforms.
- Proficient in Adobe, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Google Sheets and Google Drive.
Salary : $85,000 - $95,000
