Administration Support Intern / co-op

Summary

To assist the credit union in achieving its mission statement : " PFCU WILL DELIVER FINANCIAL WELL-BEING WITH VALUE, CONVENIENCE AND EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE," the Administration Support Intern / Co-Op will assist the PFCU team with various responsibilities and projects within the organization, resulting in a solid foundation of member service, business, finance, and administrative knowledge and experience. All PFCU employees must support, model & adhere to PFCU's Service Standards as outlined in My MARC.

This Internship opportunity is with our PFCU Marketing department. The role itself will have a heavy focus in the general administrative duties that fall within the marketing department. They include, but are not limited to, creation of solicitation letters, developing mailing lists and processing event registrations. This position will be based in the Portland Michigan PFCU Headquarters location, with the ability to work in a hybrid setting.

Essential Functions, Duties, & Responsibilities

  • Assists with support functions for a variety of areas within the credit union; such as, Loss Prevention, Business Lending, Accounting, Marketing, and Compliance, Mortgages, HR and IT. Will work closely with these respective areas to gain a full understanding of the essential duties and responsibilities within each.
  • Build relationships, be dependable, demonstrate initiative, responsibility, integrity, professionalism and take responsibility to see that all tasks are done correctly. Handle situations with confidence, knowledge and creativity; seek guidance from supervisor when necessary.
  • Demonstrates willingness to help internal / external members by stepping into other areas as requested, making suggestions for improvements and learning new skills.
  • Perform various administrative duties; including, but not limited to, account record and application verification, processing of member transactions, and completing mail process
  • Audit daily / monthly member account information for accuracy and completeness
  • Organize and accurately prepare documents for scanning
  • Scan, verify and index legal documents
  • Gather background information on members for complete and accurate application processing
  • Prepare and send member correspondence
  • Process member mail transaction requests
  • Assist members and employees with basic questions regarding products and service
  • Seek training opportunities to develop or enhance through training, conferences, reading etc. Willingly participate in and attend educational functions and meetings as requested by management.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Regulatory Compliance

Follows regulatory and policy compliance requirements which would include those efforts in compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), Red Flag and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Regulations, and other compliance related policies.

This position requires maintaining confidentiality with regard to non-public information about our members, employees and the Credit Union. We must protect the confidentiality of member information. Financial transactions are confidential and private. With account access, employees are to handle member information responsibly and confidentially.

Education Requirements Currently attending Junior or Senior year of High School or enrolled in college degree program

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, clients, members, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must have the capability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized and non-standardized situations.
