Job Title: Controller Division: PFI

FLSA: Exempt Travel Required: 10-15%

Job Status: Full Time Reports To: CFO/GM

Job Location: Algona, IA

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Responsible for leading the accounting and finance department functions. Position is accountable for all financial reports, budgets

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

More specifically, the employee will:

  • Lead compilation of monthly financial statements in an accurate, timely manner
  • Identify opportunities for performance improvement across the organization
  • Compile ad hoc data analysis, develop reporting and metrics where needed
  • Oversee team of accounting professionals; develop department skills, training, and documentation
  • Provide monthly forecast and forward-looking financial guidance
  • Collaborate with other departments and create annual budgets
  • Manage AR processes and procedures and support department
  • Review and analyze cost and manufacturing data and communicate actionable items to team members
  • Maintain state sales tax compliance and reporting submissions
  • Communicate financial data with division management as well as corporate management
  • Demonstrate proficiency with use of computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and ERP systems
  • Continually exhibit the qualities of trustworthiness, a strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Apply good verbal and written communication skills to internal and external customers


Qualifications

  • Ability to ask questions, identify opportunities for improvement, and offer solutions to complex issues
  • Capability to communicate to non-finance/accounting teams
  • Strong analytical experience and demonstration of problem-solving skills by rational methodology
  • Motivated and organized self-starter with attention to detail
  • Understanding of financial metrics and working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Engage in regular, consistent attendance
  • Ability to travel for on-site visits, several times a year


Education – Experience – Computer Skills

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field, CPA or Master’s Degree preferred
  • 7 years of professional experience in accounting, financial planning & analysis, corporate finance, or other related fields
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, repetitively use hands for firm/heavy grasping, and repetitively use hands for fine dexterity. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, talk or hear, and repetitively use hands for simple/light grasping. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities required by this job include ability to hear instructions from others.
