What You Will Achieve
As an Associate Scientist, you will be at the center of our operations and you’ll find that everything we do, every day, is in line with an unwavering commitment to quality. You will have the important responsibility in providing laboratory equipment support for the execution of preclinical and clinical serology studies in vaccine development & clinical studies. This work will be performed within the Robotics and Automation area of the High-throughput Clinical Immunoassay and Diagnostics (HCID) group within Pfizer Vaccine Research & Development (VRD). The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing daily, weekly or monthly equipment maintenance. In addition, the associate scientist may train other analysts. All work is to be performed in a compliant manner, according to applicable SOPs and cGxP guidelines, as required. In addition, you will also support throughput activities and provide testing support for clinical and non-clinical research programs.
Your strong foundation in general scientific practice, its principles and concepts will help in meeting critical deadlines. You will be relied on as a technical contributor to assess the assigned tasks and make decisions that involve direct application of your knowledge.

How You Will Achieve It
- Exercise and build basic team effectiveness skills {e.g., commitment, feedback, consensus management} within the immediate work group.
- Perform job responsibilities in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices/ Good Laboratory Practice (cGMP/GLP) and all other regulatory agency requirements.
- Perform routine or non-routine maintenance on multiple types of complex assay equipment, to support vaccine development and clinical studies. (Bio-Rad Bio-Plex 200 and FlexMap 3D, Tecan HydroSpeed Washers and Fluent, Roche Cobas, Pipettes etc.)
- Authoring equipment related SOPs, equipment qualification protocols, testing of liquid handler methods, LDRs and in the preparation of robotic validation documents.
- Ordering supplies from internal inventory and prepare reagents/supplies necessary for bio-functional assay work.
- Completing required documentation for laboratory work, including equipment maintenance forms. This includes review of equipment maintenance data and equipment qualification documents.
- Training other analysts on established, basic technologies that he/she has become proficient, as assigned.
- Executes qualifications and validations of new instruments and liquid handler custom methods, respectively.
- Stay current on all departmental and corporate training.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must-Have
- Bachelor's Degree
- Laboratory experience in a relevant field of science
- Strong attention to detail and ability to collaborate and work in team environment
- Good Computer skills including word processing, Excel, PowerPoint and relevant scientific software
Nice-to-Have
- Pharmaceutical and biotech drug discovery experience
- Knowledge of Luminex technology, mammalian cells and aseptic techniques
- Experience in developing and troubleshooting bioassays designed to assess antibody functionality
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Analyst must be able to do some l ifting (< 50lbs,) sitting, standing, walking, and bending while performing equipment maintenance.
