Summary

The Product Quality Inspector for Pflow Industries, Inc. is responsible for ensuring that all Vertical Reciprocating Conveyors (VRCs) and Make Parts Orders that Pflow manufactures are complete, accurate and to the highest quality in accordance with company procedures and policies and customer requirements.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

1. Coordinates with Department Director to develop / revise company standards and procedures to ensure on-time, accurate and high-quality outputs.

2. Reads blueprints and inspects the Fabrication and Assembly for Vertical Reciprocating Conveyors (VRCs) and Manufactured Parts Orders to ensure all components are correct and complete as per engineering drawings.

3. Serves as a backup Inspector for Cartveyors (CVs) for both fabrication and assembly, Parts Crate, and Small / Large Assembly.

4. Based on available time and capacity, will conduct incoming parts inspections based on Acceptable Quality Levels (AQLs) and SPCs, focusing on highest priority items first.

5. Checks Quality of in-house and outsourced products as well as production procedures and provides input and data for continuous improvement

6. Writes quality issues for the appropriate department(s) in the on-line issues system for concerns identified during his / her inspections.

7. Drives root cause analysis and corrective action for quality issues that are due to shortcomings from his / her inspections to ensure no repeatability and informs internal teams of results.

8. Ensures all documentation is maintained to demonstrate compliance to requirements for all inspections.

9. Utilizes fabrication and welding experience on shop floor to develop quality standards at Pflow

10. Participates in departmental and cross functional meetings to keep appraised of current projects, upcoming challenges and past issues to assess quality needs and methods of prevention

11. Works in partnership with department leaders to develop cross-functional solutions to address and resolve quality issues to improve levels of quality and productivity

12. Recommends process improvements to ensure high-quality, cost-effective processes and excellent customer services

13. Discusses and resolves project issues and concerns in partnership with Manufacturing, Customer Support, Purchasing, Suppliers, Project Management, Engineering and Sales Departments

  • QUalifications

  • Requires education equivalent to a high school diploma
  • Requires the development of proficiency in reading mechanical drawings
  • Requires at least 1-3 years of hands-on experience in a fast-paced, team environment, preferably in a manufacturing environment with experience in Welding, Fabrication, Machine Assembly and knowledge of welding and fabrication processes such as AWS Weld Code
  • Requires the ability to learn and understand the Pflow product line and the interactions between product components and the metal fabrication and assembly process
  • Requires the ability to develop and build productive relationships with Manufacturing, Customer Support, Purchasing, Vendors, Project Management, Engineering, and Sales.
  • Requires the ability to examine processes and develop and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Requires excellent analytical skills to track and analyze data and develop solutions
  • Requires computer literacy and the ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Requires proficiency in ERP systems and the development of a working knowledge of Epicor M2K
  • Requires strong organizational skills, detail orientation and a high degree of accuracy
  • Requires excellent research and problem-solving skills and the ability and desire to participate in the development and implementation of practical solutions
  • Requires excellent internal customer service skills
  • Requires excellent communication skills and fluency in English to effectively relay verbal and written information in an effective, tactful and diplomatic manner
  • Requires self-motivation and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Requires the ability to handle multiple, competing priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines while producing accurate and high-quality detail work
  • Requires the ability to use basic office equipment : fax, voicemail, copier, calculator, etc.

    The employee works indoor in office. He / she may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
