Summary: The Transmission Operations Maintenance and Construction leadership leads teams of employees directly or indirectly involved in maintaining or building parts of the service territory transmission lines or substations. Supervisors and Superintendents oversee teams working on projects within a specific region or may be assigned to teams working on larger, complex general construction projects throughout the service territory. The leaders provide safe and reliable electric service while maintaining compliance with the California Public Utility Commission General Orders, all Safety regulations and other regulatory requirements. The leaders fully implement and hold subordinates accountable for safety best practices and adherence to the safety accountability model while ensuring full compliance with the Injury & Illness Prevention Program and work closely with the Safety Program Coordinator. Travel for this position is approximately 50%.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:
  • Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area) $128,000.00
  • Mid Base Salary (Bay Area) $173,000.00
  • Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area) $218,000.00


Responsibilities:
Operates, maintains and constructs the electric system in a way that's consistent with all regulatory requirements
Ensures maintenance and/or construction work in assigned area is completed on time, within budget and to quality expectations while adhering to safety and regulatory compliance.
Manages large capital and operating expense budgets to ensure work identified in the Operating Plan is completed and unit cost targets are achieved.
Identifies safety issues and communicates those issues under high pressure, time restricted situations to the customer.
Assesses complex field situations, and makes decisions/recommendations for solution. Recommends best practices to subordinate staff, and overrides unsafe decisions in a practical tactical way.
Ensures a high customer satisfaction result by always keeping the customer needs at the forefront of decision making.
Partners with employees and union representatives to enhance employee satisfaction.
Partners with peers, staff departments, matrix organizations and outside agencies to improve overall business results.
Identify and influence implementation of best practices to improve productivity and reduce operating costs. Develop and implement actions which improve and support system reliability.
Ensures that training is completed and properly documented.
Establishes assessment systems and monitors activities to ensure compliance with established procedures.
Manages Notice of Violation (NOV), Notice to Comply (NOC), and environmental compliance. Ensures compliance with all regulatory agency requirements including the California Public Utility Commission; Cal OSHA; Environmental Protection Agency, etc
Proactively prepares for emergency situations; supports company efforts during emergency situations; communicates deficiencies in emergency response/preparedness; resolves issues quickly and efficiently using the correct resources.
May oversee Asset Strategy group for respective area of Electric Operations.
May oversee Engineering Construction and Contract Supervision and Inspection for respective area of Electric Operations.
May oversee contract development including scope, pricing, contract structure, and incentives, in partnership with the Contract Planning department.
Effectively manages staff/team(s) through recruitment and selection, training and development, performance

Qualifications
Minimum:
High School Diploma or GED
7 years total relevant experience

Desired:
Experience coaching, mentoring, developing and promoting improvement in employees.
Experience supervising electric construction field personnel.
Previous experience in a supervisory role with an emphasis on fiscal responsibility, employee performance management, data/material management and process improvement.
Strong project and people management skills.
Strong written/verbal communication and presentation skills.
Good leadership and training skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively train subordinates on specific work practices.
Ability to understand, interpret and communicate electrical work procedures, work methods, standards, policies, and guidelines.
Ability to build strong relationships with peers, subordinates, and all levels of management.
Good leadership ability. Understands how to motivate, develop and direct teams as they work.
Knowledge of GO 95, 128 ,165 and 112E and IBEW bargaining unit contracts.
Project management skills with large capital projects.
Strong analytical problem solving and solution implementation ability.
Knowledge of the company's emergency management process.
Knowledge of California and Federal regulatory requirements such as Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Western Electricity Coordinating
