Position Summary
The Pole Reinforcement Supervisor leads a team involved in various planning and support activities for the Pole Reinforcement program such as business systems/tools management, regulatory filings, overseeing schedule and attainment, developing and documenting procedures, vendor contract management, data analysis & reporting, financial planning & forecasting, Law Department Liaison, process improvement audit support and external agency support.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $118,000
Bay Area Maximum: $188,000
&/OR
California Minimum: $112,000
California Maximum: $179,000
- This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
- This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned location based on business needs. The Headquarters location is flexible within the PG&E service territory.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees staff work, prioritizes and delegates work assignments, and handles escalated issues from staff. May be involved in the research and resolution of customer complaints/issues arising from vegetation management work in the service territory.
- Represents the department in legal and/or regulatory issues or proceedings including acting as an expert witness, depositions, gathering documents, and preparing for legal responses.
- Develop and publish documentation regarding pole reinforcement procedures. Partners with peer supervisor(s) to write and update standards and bulletins for other Electric departments such as Estimating, Maintenance & Construction, and others to convey information helpful in designing reinforcement projects. Ensures documents are published and stored in the proper locations for easy access to intended audiences. May assist in standards documentation review for regulatory compliance or audit purposes.
- Regularly audits and reviews third-party contractor contract specifications to ensure compliance and relevance with current operational needs, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Manages department business systems and automated tools. Interfaces with IT and/or own team to manage ongoing support, upgrades & changes to tools. Oversees the gathering and analysis of user specifications and the documentation, and translation of those specifications to IT or the tool developer/programmer. Ensures systems/tools upgrades are fully tested and meet user needs. Directs the development and delivery of training and documentation associated with systems/tools upgrade rollouts.
- Leads the reporting of department operational metrics, contractor information, invoicing, regulatory, financials, and audit information. Partners with staff to develop and modify a department metric monitoring, data capture, and reporting process. Prioritizes report requests and delegates to appropriate staff members. Ensures timely report production and delivery. Collaborates with peer supervisors and/or managers to review department metric/status report information and jointly develop recommendations for operational changes.
- Monitors the Pole Reinforcement financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and the associated budgeting tools throughout the year. Manages the process of preparing annual budgets and monthly & quarterly updates based on forecast updates provided by the Pole Reinforcement Construction Managers.
- Represents the department to other Electric organizations regarding any process changes or improvements that may impact pole management operations. Provides input and ensures department impact is understood and properly represented.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- High School or GED
- 5 years of related experience.
Desired:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- ISA Certified Arborist – Utility Specialist
- PMP
- Experience working in Vegetation, Pole, or Construction Management.
- Experience in the electric utility industry.
- Understanding of electric utility business operations such as maintenance and construction work.
- Knowledge of pole inspection concepts, processes, and practices.
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
- Understanding of project and program management methods and practices
- Good financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting knowledge and skills.
- Organizational, multi-tasking ability.
- Leadership skills to effectively supervise staff.
- Communication skills, both written and verbal. Good presentation skills to effectively convey information to a variety of internal and external contacts.
