What are the responsibilities and job description for the Procurement Specialist position at PGS Worldwide?
PGS Worldwide is looking for a detail-oriented Procurement Specialist in Lafayette, CO. to support increased purchasing activity across our supply chain. You’ll help manage sourcing and procurement for a variety of components—including wire, optics, COTS parts, and GSE—while offloading key responsibilities from senior team members. This role also supports supplier setup, lead time management, and EEE component purchasing. This is an initial 12-month contract-to-hire opportunity, and I will respond immediately to all qualified candidates.
Job Description:
- Manage procurement of materials and services to support production and engineering needs.
- Issue and manage purchase orders (POs) in compliance with company policies and government regulations.
- Negotiate pricing, terms & conditions, and NDAs; collaborate with legal on contractual changes.
- Collaborate with suppliers to resolve delivery, quality, or compliance issues.
- Maintain and update part lead times in the system; hold suppliers accountable to deadlines and performance metrics.
- Conduct supplier research and assist in expanding our qualified vendor base.
- Support supplier setup and re-certification processes.
- Coordinate with internal teams including Engineering, Planning, Quality, Production, and Accounting.
- Provide purchasing and expediting support for critical material shortages.
- Monitor open orders and proactively address potential delays to avoid last-minute expedites.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- US Citizenship
- 2 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or procurement.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (tables, formulas, data formatting).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational ability.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage tasks independently from start to finish.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desired:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS compliance.
- Experience using SAP, PRISM, or equivalent ERP systems.
- Aerospace and Defense industry experience is a plus.
