What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Manager - B Shift - M-F 5pm-3:30am position at PGT Custom Windows and Doors?
Manages other supervisors or teams of employees using machinery or equipment to assist with manufacturing, packaging, and other steps along a production line.
Operations Management
- Supervise others working within established operational systems.
- Production Planning
- Develop daily and weekly production plans for a factory or product line to include
resource planning and monitoring and reporting on performance against the
plan.
Leadership and Direction
- Communicate the local action plan; explain how this relates to the function's
strategy and action plan and the broader organization's mission and vision;
motivate people to achieve local business goals.
Manufacturing Methods/Processes Development
- Identify shortcomings in existing manufacturing processes, systems, and
procedures; develop methods and processes to address them.
Health, Safety and Environment
- Follow the organization's HS&E policies, procedures and mandatory instructions;
to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the wellbeing of oneself
and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify
instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action,
escalating serious issues as appropriate.
Quality
- Plan and coordinate testing and inspection of products and processes.
Implement corrective actions or continuous improvement initiatives, and
monitoring them to make sure they are effective.
Work Scheduling and Allocation
- Assign short-term work schedules to a team of subordinates in order to achieve
expectations while following established timelines.
Operational Compliance
- Identify, within the team, instances of non-compliance with the organization's
policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct,
reporting these and escalating issues as appropriate.
Budgeting
- Track budgets and report variances to more senior colleagues.
Performance Management
- Respond to personal objectives and use performance management systems to
improve personal performance. OR Monitor the performance of the team;
allocate work and review completion, take appropriate corrective action to
ensure timeliness and quality; contribute to formal individual performance
management and appraisal.
Organizational Capability Building
- Provide coaching to team members to develop their skills.
Internal Communications
- Help others get the most out of internal communications systems by offering
support and advice.
Education and Experience
- General Education
- University (First degree)
- Experienced practitioner able to work unsupervised (13 months to 3 years)
Managerial Experience
- Experience of supervising and directing people and other resources to achieve
specific end results within limited timeframes (13 months to 3 years)
